2021 Quiz on Korea

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in New Zealand is hosting the 2021 Quiz on Korea competition. Quiz on Korea is a quiz contest on Korean culture and language for non-Korean New Zealanders who are studying Korean. It is an exciting opportunity for those who want to enhance their interest and knowledge on the Korean culture.
Preliminary rounds will be held online on 15:00-17:00 Thursday 15th July & 10:00-12:00 Friday 16th July, and contestants with the highest scores will be invited to the 2021 Quiz on Korea Final round in Wellington. Register now and show us your Korean skills!
■ Eligibility:
You must be a New Zealand resident, and 18 years or older.
You and your immediate families are not of Korean nationality or ethnicity.
You are not an overseas Korean, and never had a Korean nationality.
You should be able to speak both English and Korean, as most questions will be in both languages.
■ Online Application:
Online applications are open until Monday 5 July 2021 at 11:59pm

Personal information submitted for this event will only be used for the purpose of this quiz contest, such as sending gifts to participants and finalists. The information will never be used for any other purposes.
Participants will receive further detailed information about the contest by email on Tuesday 6th July, including the compulsory Quizizz link for checking your account.
■ Preliminary Round Disclaimers:
Participants are highly advised to secure a good, stable Wi-Fi or internet access during the online contest as the organisers do not take personal troubleshooting into consideration.
Please participate under your registered name.
(Please take note that your application will be regarded as an agreement with such exposure)
Although typing your answers in Hangul (Korean characters) is ideal for short-answer questions, we also accept answers written in English phonetics for those who are not experienced with typing in Korean.
■ Quiz Format:
The quiz consist a mix of short-answered& multiple choice questions written in English and Korean side-by-side.
■ Prizes:
Those who participated in the preliminary rounds and did not make it to the final round will receive a souvenir gift through the address provided. The top contestants will be invited to the K-Culture Festival in Wellington on Saturday 28 August 2021 for the Final Round, and first prize winner will receive a voucher, a certificate and a trophy.
* Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s Quiz on Korea will not award first prize winner with a trip to Korea, for health and safety reasons.
We hope Quiz on Korea can provide opportunities for New Zealanders to flex their Korean knowledge and language skills, and further take interest in the Korean culture!
